San Marcos Farmers’ Market
The San Marcos Farmers’ Market takes place every Wednesday from 3 – 7pm (Winter hours 1 – 6pm) on the Cal Sate San Marcos campus at 333 S.Twin Oaks Valley Rd. parking Lot “B” (map).
Follow the posted signs from the freeway exit, and you will arrive in a large upper parking lot which overlooks the vendor filled lower lot. The bustling market evokes images of a gypsy camp with colorful tented booths arranged in a large block. It is well organized and easy to navigate, with the majority of the produce on the inner isle and most of the prepared foods and artisans on the outer walls. Live music, balloons, and face painting make it a family friendly environment.
If the foods, crafts, and entertainment are not enough to entice a repeat visit, there is also a weekly raffle for a large basket full of goodies from the various vendors. Each time you purchase from a vendor, you should be offered a free raffle ticket (you may have to ask for it) on which you write your name, phone number, and email address. The more vendors you buy from, the more chances you have to win. At the end of the market all of the vendors turn in their filled out raffle tickets and a lucky winner is selected. The winner will be contacted during the week by the market manager, and can pick up their basket at the following week’s market. The raffle will continue all summer with a new winner selected each week.
The San Marcos Farmers’ Market accepts EBT.
